Week 1: Creative Painter Workshop

Have you explored the many fun and creative ways of painting? Come and join us at CalColor this summer to become a little painting expert! Besides grasping various techniques of painting, color theory, and color mixing, you will learn to use innovative and exciting ways of using paint and color to express yourself and tell your own stories. Week 2: Magical Mini-Builder

Repurpose, Reclaim, and Recycle! Make your imagination come alive using hands-on, pre-found materials as well as digital technology! Come and join our Magical Mini-Builder Camp and transform ordinary and everyday materials into stunning 3-D and animated artworks! You will learn spatial art concepts and cultivate creative problem solving skills to make the ordinary extraordinary!

Week 3: Game Art & Design

A fan of board games like Monopoly? Join our awesome Game Art & Design Camp, and let’s create some original GAME ART that you and your family can enjoy while at home! You will learn about the process and design thinking for games to create your own crazy fun concepts! Whether you want to create game characters or environmental backgrounds, we will teach you how!

Goals:

  • Develop creative design thinking skills
  • Learn about the basic process of game design
  • Cultivate ability to create a visual concept

Week 4: Multi Culture- Design Your Dragon

Multicultural studies foster in our children curiosity and appreciation for learning about diverse cultures around the globe. This summer, CCA’s signature Multicultural Camp will take students on a virtual tour to study the cultural and symbolic significance of Dragon in both the East and the West. Students will also expand their creative mind to design their own dragon with unique features and superpowers! We will draw, paint, collage, and also make a tunnel book to present your dragon creation. Come and join us for this educational and fun-filled Multicultural Camp!

  • General Knowledge: the significance and symbolic meanings of Dragon in various cultures 
  • Skills: creative and design thinking development

Week 6: Let’s Travel: Australia Landmarks and Animal Adventure

Join us for a virtual tour of Australia’s famous landmarks and its iconic animals! Our little artists will create artworks inspired by what they see and learn as we virtually travel through the country to study the culture, landmarks, animals, and landscape. Each will create artworks based on their own observation, experience and imagination, and use visual art language to tell a story that reflects their own vision of an adventure in Australia! 

Goals:

  • General Knowledge: Geography, landmarks, culture, history of Australia 
  • Art Genres: landscape, cityscape, transportation
  • Fundamental Visual Art Skill: vocabulary, observation, composition, color theory, etc. 
  • Art Medium: drawing, painting, and hands-on craft

Week 7: Painter Workshop- Jungle Adventure

Do you love to paint? Want to expand your technical toolbox and explore other creative possibilities with painting? Come and join our Painter Workshop as we take you on a jungle art adventure! Besides grasping various techniques of painting, color theory, and color mixing, we will also study famous artists whose artworks were inspired by the jungle. You will get to use the technique learned, the artistic inspiration, as well as your creativity to paint your own unique jungle adventure masterpiece!

  • Art history and masterpiece study

  • Art medium: painting, drawing, and collage 
  • Creative storytelling through color, composition, and other visual elements.

Week 8: Giants Coming To Town- Creature & Cityscape Design

What kind of town would you like to build if you were an architect? Who lives there? What happens when giant creatures come to invade your town? In this fun-filled, story creation and illustration camp, students will get a chance to design and create their own creatures as well as their imaginary town. Skills in cityscape and perspective drawing, character design, creative storytelling and illustration, and hands-on 3-D spatial elements will be taught.

Goals:

  • Fundamental Visual Art Knowledge: illustration technique, character design, cityscape and perspective drawing, 
  • Art Medium: drawing, painting, and spatial art 
  • Creative storytelling through fundamental language of visual art
